SwissGear SA1908 ScanSmart Review

I am an outdoor kind of guy and during most weekends I go for outdoor fun events such as hiking, camping and mountaineering. The SwissGear SA1908 ScanSmart Backpack is my companion. It has strong and durable straps that fold nicely over my shoulders. I do carry a lot of gears and I can tell you that these straps have not buckled or awkwardly stretched under this weight. The wide straps make it a comfortable bag to carry around regardless of the pack load.

Features of SwissGear SA1908

Comfortable frame

I have used several bags before that had skewed frame meaning that the weight is not evenly spread to the waist and the shoulder straps. For this one however, I can say that the impeccable design was well thought out and all these dynamics have been factored in. The foam used is high quality and the weight lies comfortably on my back without causing any unnecessary strains. Even when I am carrying wide loads in the intense rigors of outdoor activities, I can barely feel the weight bearing on me. The foam is adequately comfortable and supportive; it is well padded to enhance this comfort.

Adequate space

The back pack may look small on the screen but do not be deceived. It is quite spacious. I do not only use this bag for outdoor life only but I also use it to carry my office stuffs. I have used it several times to carry my 17-inch laptop and other office stationeries and I can tell you it still left adequate room for my tea flask and water bottle. Besides this, I can also tell you the design allows for easy packing and access to all the compartments and the pockets. I usually rate the functionality of a backpack by how easy it allows me to pack as well as access what I have put into the pockets. For the SwissGear SA1908 ScanSmart Backpack, I have given it ten points out of ten for this particular function. This backpack comes with three side pockets that are carefully positioned to allow convenience and ease of access. While this bag may not have so many pockets, you can be sure that the ones that are there will serve you adequate even if it means carrying your phones or putting loose change when traveling. The pockets are firmly secured with a quality zip.

I am not the kind of a person that pays attention to how nice or awful a bag looks. I am more into functionalities rather than aesthetics. For this particular bag however, I could not miss this. It comes in quite an elegant and cute design that makes it a comfortable pack for both office use and outdoor life. I have carried it to the office and have had people comment about how nice it looks.

Major Pros:

It is inexpensive, very durable and it combines functionalities and aesthetics in an apt way.

Major Cons:

The bottom is not adequately padded and hence requires careful placing of a laptop and other delicate machines.
